Description

  • Market assessments are ongoing in order to respond to segment dynamics and new developments
  • Regular TAM updates – HDD & SSD by segment
    • Near-term TAM - weekly discussion with VP and Director of Marketing
    • Near-term TAM (rolling 3 quarters) every 1st and 3rd month of the quarter at beginning of Financial Forecast cycle
    • Mid-term TAM (rolling 6 quarters) once a quarter during the middle month of the quarter
    • Mid/Long-term TAM (2 yrs) part of quarterly BOD meetings
    • Long-term TAM (3-5yrs) part of quarterly Core Strategy meetings
  • Main TAM inputs – HDD & SSD by segment
    • Economic and industry conditions based on public news sources
    • Financial analyst reports and updates on economic conditions and key industry players (competitors, customers, suppliers, industry bellwethers)
    • Marketing team across all segments
    • Customers – primarily through Sales (weekly account calls)
    • HDD and SSD industry analysts
    • WDC executives and staff
  • Key TAM discussion and review meetings
    • Weekly discussion with VP and Director of Marketing
    • Monthly Operations meeting with senior executive team
      • Review near term TAM outlook
    • Monthly TAM-Volume-Share Review as part of Financial forecast (BU executives/staff and business planning)
      • Review near-term TAM, preliminary volume and share plan
      • Separate TAM reviews as required by market segments
    • Quarterly Sales Interlock meeting (Worldwide Sales, BU, and Marketing executives as well as key staff)
      • Discuss and review near-term TAM
    • Quarterly preparation of executive team TAM package and review as part of quarterly R6Q financial forecast
      • Summarize TAM and review with BU
    • Quarterly TAM-Volume-Share review as part of quarterly R6Q financial forecast
      • Review TAM, WDC volumes and share with executives
    • Quarterly Market review meetings with industry analysts – IDC/TF/Gartner and other third parties
  • Analytic experience: Proven results to analyze, diagnose, articulate and tailor the message to target audience among technology as well as business teams.
  • Visualization expertise: In-depth understanding of various visualization techniques to translate data into meaningful work of art and convey the insights in a clean and concise manner for the target audience. 
  • Business acumen: Work directly with multi-functional business teams
  • Team player & leader: Led geo-diversified & multi-functional teams in a “Flat World” work environment.
  • Strong traditional & non-traditional skills to extract, transform, manipulate and make data readiness for analysis. 
  • Industry knowledge or research analyst contacts
  • Willing to take on new tasks with a positive attitude

  • Microsoft excel and powerpoint super user
  • Prior experience with data analytic software
  • Define data requirements and gather and validate information, applying judgement and statistical tests
  • Prepare management reports defining and evaluating problems and recommending solutions
  • Collaborate with business partners to ensure successful implementation of processes
  • Utilize strong quantitative and analytic abilities to integrate and analyze data
  • Develop and implement complex mathematical and statistical models that relate sales or marketing activities to financial results 
  • Develop custom analysis tools in a variety of programming languages and applications such as Visual Basic, MS Access, and MS Excel
