Western Digital is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer who can help establish, document, and manage the quality requirements, processes/procedures, and audit plans in our New Storage System configuration Center (CTO). This is an expanded role encompassing responsibilities of Supplier Quality, Factory Quality, and Product Quality. The candidate shall have a strong understanding of quality systems and manufacturing, with an assertive and innovative approach to implement and refine the quality system as this business expands. The candidate shall be highly organized and methodical, and shall work interactively with cross-functional teams to ensure best practices are implemented throughout the CTO manufacturing process.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Participate and represent Quality Assurance in all Configuration Center Manufacturing meetings
  • Establish a standardized quality system from incoming material through to outgoing product, to be used across all platforms for all customers
  • Set up a comprehensive IQA system (tools, processes, documents) per customer requirements
  • Develop comprehensive Process Management Plan (PMP) including test/inspection gates, accept/reject criteria, etc.
  • Establish any/all post-processing (OBA, ORT, etc.) per customer requirements
  • Provide training and support to QA and Manufacturing teams
  • Monitor daily manufacturing quality data based on the established systems and customer requirements
  • Summarize and report quarterly manufacturing performance, customer field data, and improvement plans
  • Manage supplier discrepant material analysis and resolution (failure analysis, 8D, etc.) and related communications back to the customer
  • Long term, develop Shop Floor Control (SFC) with enforced routing, with complete traceability and data collection capability
  • Support customer Visits and Audits
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with 8+ years of Manufacturing Quality Experience
  • Good understanding of ISO quality systems related to manufacturing and quality
  • In-depth understanding of manufacturing process quality controls and the ability to document and implement the requirements
  • Proficiency with Precision Inspection Tools, Auditing Techniques, and Quality Data Monitoring
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation and organizational skills
  • Experience with customer interaction to support customer visits and audits
