The ASIC Design Verification Manager will manage a team of engineers performing verification of RTL, Gate Level and Emulation RTL functionality towards the development of Western Digital’s next generation eSSD SOC SSD controllers. As a design verification manager, the daily activities would include managing and assigning verification engineers at the module/subsystem/chip level SoC RTL to find functional bugs, working with the RTL design team to fix the bugs, facilitating reading design specs and developing/executing test plans, which utilize scripts, System Verilog/UVM, C++, and other methodologies to increase the rate at which ASIC bugs are found and resolved. This position will be reporting into Director of Platform Verification and Validation under eSSD ASIC and HW organization.
 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide resources to Verification Lead to enable him to deliver verified SoC chip-level ASIC RTL, Gate Netlist and FPGA RTL to synthesis and implementation team
  • Support verification lead to co-ordinate SoC design verification activities at all levels (module, subsystem IPs, SoC, Formal, GLS and FPGA).
  • Track progress and performance while helping the development of engineers in his team.
  • Support DV lead by participating and allocating resource bandwidth for test plan reviews, milestone checklist reviews and Jiras assignments.

    Support DV lead by allocating and driving team members to resolve bugs and regression failures

  • Interfaces with Architecture, ASIC, FW and Validation teams through the product development phase
 
 

 

EDUCATION:

  • BS/MS in EE/CE, plus 8+ years of Design Verification experience, plus 2+ years of Management experience
  • Familiarity with ASIC, Computer and Embedded Systems Architectures
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with people at all levels, a must.
  • Team player, with excellent debugging skills

SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE

  • Mandatory Experience

    • Experience with managing a team of design verification engineers and being accountable to deliver on all aspects of SoC verification is a must.
    • In past, demonstrated technical expertise in developing IP-level and system-level test-plans, test bench development, functional coverage, stimulus generation, reference models, checkers, monitors and scoreboards.
    • Some familiarity with SSD related protocols such as PCIe/NVMe/SATA/SAS, NAND and DDR.
    • Working experience with Design Verification Tools and Process flows with leading edge EDA technologies.
    • Good working experience with Verilog, System Verilog, Object Oriented Programming/C++, Perl, and logic simulation is a requirement.
    • Good familiarity with all functional verification aspects such as regressions, code/functional coverage and assertions.

  • Highly Desirable Experiences

    • Scripting and test automation for regression.
    • Familiarity with writing and debugging C tests for ARM processors.
    • Experience with gate-level simulations.
    • Experience with Emulation Platform such as Palladium, Xilinx and/or Altera FPGAs technology.

  • Ability to read, write and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and emails in English.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to internal customers and other employees of the organization.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
