We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join Western Digital’s Legal department reporting directly to the Director, Legal Operations. This position will build strong relationship across legal ecosystem to understand current state and make recommendations for improved operations




  • Define, launch and drive strategic and operational initiatives

  • Work with Legal Department functional leads to identify and track departmental success metrics, provide business insight to legal team members to improve alignment with company and department business goals

  • Identify, track and report on key operational and substantive KPIs/metrics for the practice group that will better inform decision-making, including matter and work product analyses

  • Support management of outside counsel, and support attorneys in vendor rationalization strategy for legal

  • Stay up to date on industry best practice and leading law department processes and influence continuous improvement

  • Ensure effective implementation and communication of Legal programs, providing visibility of key milestones and progress

  • Manage development and tracking of team goals, and provide project management support

  • Ad-hoc projects and general administrative support as required

  • Liaise with Legal Operations Technology:

    • on tool and technology needs to support Legal practice area needs, including but not limited to vendor management, Legal Tracker / Thomson Reuters, Oracle, ServiceNow, DocuSign, and others to improve team efficiency and effectiveness
    • to advise Director, Legal Operations on developments and trends of new technologies to more effectively manage internal and external legal services
  • Finance:
    • Supports the finance function within the Legal Department, including developing and managing budgets, the creation and tracking of financial metrics, processes and tools used to plan, forecast and administer the Legal Department’s budget and financial needs.
    • Collaborates with the Legal Tracker analyst on preparing and reviewing monthly spend reports and/or audits with a focus of reducing costs and increasing efficiencies



  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting or equivalent commensurate work experience

  • At least 4+ years of Legal Operations experience, preferably working in-house at a technology company

  • Experience in developing standard operating processes, delivering training

  • Strong project management/process improvement experience within management consulting and/or within law departments or law firms; PMP preferred
