Western Digital is seeking a MARCOM Training Specialist to contribute to the ongoing development of Western Digital’s E-Learning Portal. The Training & Education Team provides support to the Channel and Sales departments in developing, constructing, and deploying interactive, online training content designed for retail partner and customer support in the forms of: online interactive training, graphic design, course construction, managing websites, and localization tasks. 

This candidate must have a can-do attitude and be energized in a fast-paced, agile Marketing development environment where change is the only constant. While the primary function of this role is course development, the right candidate will have a willingness to explore and gain experience in other Training & Instructional Design-related activities, such as: developing, facilitating, and delivering product-related, customer-facing webinars (Virtual Instructor-Led Training), Learning Management Systems administration, and other operational aspects of the Training Team. 




  • Consult with Subject Matter Experts, including: Project Managers, Channel Managers, product, marketing, and sales teams

  • Manage multiple projects concurrently

  • Create concise learning objectives

  • Implement adult learning theory, models, and methods

  • Design and develop engaging eLearning material for both internal and customer facing audiences

  • Utilize multiple design, and industry standard software 

  • Plan, schedule and track projects, maintaining aggressive deadlines and communicate/ overcome issues/risks/roadblocks in a timely manner, within prescribed intent and plans

  • Construct, test, and deploy learning modules using Adapt (open source code) and web hosting interface

  • Present recommendations and designs and report on project status

  • Work with SMEs to identify training needs (gaps) and to then build quality, measurable learning objectives to eliminate or mitigate those gaps

  • Develop training materials to optimize the use of technology and ensure appropriate delivery methods for adult learners

  • Establish training program/course learning objectives and develop valid and reliable assessment tools to measure the effectiveness of those objectives, as well as the content built to teach them

  • Assist the Manager of Education and Training with creating storyboards, trainer’s notes, participant materials, video, and multimedia scripts/ other documents

  • Analyze curriculum needs and update and maintain current curriculum library across all brands

  • Perform localization tasks, including proofing and posting to various languages


  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience in Curriculum, Adult Learning, Training and Development, Learning and Development, or a closely aligned field

  • ATD certifications (e.g. CpLP, Master Instructional Designer, Master Trainer, etc.) a strong plus

  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience with using or managing an LMS (e.g. Moodle, Canvas Instructure, Cornerstone OnDemand, etc.) a strong plus

  • Understanding of technical writing a strong plus

  • Demonstrated ability to logically organize complex information and to then transform it into professionally designed, engaging, and effective adult learning programs

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are an absolute must

  • Strong organizational, accurate record-keeping and critical thinking skills are needed

  • The ability to think abstractly, yet analyze linearly a strong plus

  • Familiarity with eLearning authoring software such as Adobe Captivate 5.5 or higher, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat Pro, .XML/html, and Camtasia

  • Must have the ability to work as part of a larger team, to balance multiple tasks/objectives, and to have high levels of flexibility in a fast-paced environment

  • Proven ability to collaborate with others, including team members, supervisors and managers, and to work effectively with employees at all levels across multiple departments

  • Must be able to apply tact when dealing with others

  • Demonstrate initiative and a results-based orientation

  • Must have the ability to collect, interpret, and summarize data

  • Experience in building franchise training programs will be a strong plus
