This individual is responsible for several key activities within the organization.  Has primary  responsibility for running and maintaining a bit allocation tool developed from a linear program software tool.  This end program is integral to the company’s operations for optimizing company profitability for captive flash businesses over a 6 month or 18 month horizon. Annually, this program is also used for the 5 year horizon Long Range planning activity; and the individual is responsible for running this tool for any long-range plan simulations. Additionally, on an on-gong basis, we will  continually enhance the linear program to improve simulations for profit optimization and long-term planning.The person in this role will also assist  the pricing team with the automation efforts of price elasticity calculations which will eventually be integrated into the linear program tool for bit allocation tool to integrate price sensitivity capabilities in our profit optimization engine.  The staff Engineer will also have significant interaction with the NAND Flash Supply chain team, utilizing their significant knowledge on specific types of NAND Flash silicon produced by Western Digital’s captive semiconductor fabrication plants to determine optional consumption paths for our captive memory.  Need to utilize specific and detailed knowledge of our internal NAND based manufacturing and test flows to provide frequent ad hoc allocation analyses on a quick turn basis.  These ad hoc analyses are required for 3 recurring activities:  1) resolving or avoiding product shortages; 2) driving raw material output to proactively avoid build-up of excess and obsolete silicon 3) supporting the need to maximize one type or several types of silicon shipments in a fiscal period.  This same expertise on the uses of various NAND Flash products and by-products from the production process are also integral for running and coding the bit allocation tool.



Masters in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research or Supply Chain Management.  2-4 years of supply chain experience with a semiconductor company.
